Children's Ministry

Vision
NDCBF's vision for Children's Ministry is a community of leaders and workers joyfully and effectively evangelizing, equipping and encouraging children to model Christ within their circles of influence.  Rather than focusing on growing children into adults who live Christ-exalting lives, we strive to train them to be Christ-exalting children by nurturing the development of age appropriate spiritual disciplines throughout each phrase of the child's life.

Mission
Our mission is to present a clear Gospel to children and guide them to trusting in Jesus Christ as their personal Savior, obeying God's Word and sharing their faith with others. We provide a comprehensive, age-appropriate, biblical training program to help children hide God's Word in their hearts and develop in a true passion for God, Jesus, the Bible and the Church.

Strategy
Our strategy for introducing children to Jesus Christ is to combine the appropriate curriculum with engaging programming executed through a set of 7 core values.

Curriculum
Our curriculum is designed to teach children Biblical beliefs (what they should know), Christian virtues (who they should be) and spiritual practices (what they should do). Each lesson focuses on one of these concepts. This 3-pronged approach to Biblical training ensures that we develop the “head, heart and hands” of each child.   Our curriculum includes 5 educational tiers.  Tier 1 addresses Biblical beliefs only. Tiers 2 through 5 address Biblical beliefs, Christian virtues and spiritual practices.

Core Values
The NDCBF Children's Ministry has 7 Core Values that permeate every each aspect of our ministry to children.  This system of values ensures that we team with our parent community to clearly and creatively communicate the good news of the Gospel within an inviting and safe environment using proven age-appropriate and child-engaging techniques.  Once children become Christians, we challenge them to discover and use their gifts in a manner that pleases God.   The 7 Core Values are:

1. Evangelism (Matt 28:19) - Evangelizing children and teaching them to evangelize others
2. Creative Teaching (Matt 28:20) - Training and providing resources to enable teachers to effectively use age-appropriate curriculum and creative methods to engage children
3. Safety (Is. 40:11) - Consistently adhering to established procedures for safely nurturing and handling children
4. Parental Involvement (Deut. 6:7) - Actively engaging and providing support programs for dual and single parent families
5. Age-appropriate Worship (Matt 22:37) - Attracting children through a corporate worship experience that draws the minds and hearts of children to worship their Savior
6. Stewardship/Leadership (Luke 12:42) - Teaching children to use their time, talents and treasures to glorify God and help them model this behavior before other children
