Our future home is located at State Highway 190 and Jupiter Road in Plano. The address is 2901 E. President George Bush Highway, Plano, TX 75074.
When do you expect to move into our future home?
It is our hope that we will be moved in during the month of November.
The building was designed by NDCBF Elders and members of the NDCBF staff. They employed HH Architects to put their ideas on paper. Other professionals on the project include:

Who is building the facility?
The general contractor is Julian P. Barry GC, L.P.
What type of structure is it?
The structure system is a steel frame system on a pier and beam foundation.
How many stories will there be in Phase I of the building?
The children’s building will have two stories. The lobby/commons area will be an open space with 25 ft. tall ceilings. The worship center will also have a high ceiling open to the structure and painted black.
What is the size of the AWANA Circle shown in the education building?
The AWANA circle is 40 ft by 40 ft.
What is the total size of Phase I of the building?
The total square footage of Phase I is 74,000.
Is there adequate space in Phase I to accommodate growth?
The 74,000 sq ft Phase I would meet the projected growth of NDCBF for five years and beyond. The facility will meet all of the programming requirements for Children’s Ministry and the Youth Ministry. It also meets the basic requirements for Adult Ministry.
Is there room for the staff in Phase I.
No, the Sherman Street facility will continue to house the administrative staff.
What is the total cost of the project?
The cost for Phase I is $13,100,000. There are some alternates which would further enhance the building and the total experience. The alternates come to an additional $2,383,000.
What are the alternates and what do they cost individually?
There is an alternate to increase parking ($500,000); while Phase I meets the basic requirements of the Adult Ministry, the Adult Education Wing ($1,000,000) will meet the programming needs; there is an AWANA addition ($615,000) and an addition of a Café($268,000).
How large is the space for the Children’s Ministry?
The CM space is 12,544 sf. That compares to about 7,500 sf in the Sherman Street location.
How large is the space for the Youth Ministry?
The Youth Ministry will occupy 8,714 sf, more than 30% larger than the current space at Sherman Street. Their space includes a large gathering area of nearly 3,300 sf, which is nearly 50% of the size of their total space currently.
How many classroom will the Youth Ministry space have?
The Youth area will have eight classrooms, double the number of classrooms in the current location.
What is the size of the Adult Ministry in Phase I?
The adults will have two classrooms and about 300 sf more than they have at the Sherman Street location.
How large is the foyer area?
The prefunction area outside the worship center is 5,380 sf. Combined with the foyer area outside the Children’s Ministry the total is more than 10,000 sf which is 50% larger than the entire first floor of the current sanctuary building.
How large is the bookstore?
The bookstore is 640 sf feet; about 25% larger than the current bookstore.
How large is the Hospitality Suite?
The Hospitality Suite is a total of 983 sf which compares to 847 sf in the Sherman Street location.
How large is the Fellowship Hall?
The Fellowship Hall is a multipurpose room which will also serve as the sanctuary. It is 9,421 sf and, in dining mode, will hold 400 people. The Fellowship Hall at Sherman Street is 1,616 sf and can hold 200 people in dining mode but with limited space to move about.
How large is the kitchen?
The full-service kitchen totals 1,623 sf, more than triple the space at Sherman Street.
How large is the Counseling Suite?
Counseling will have seven offices and a gathering area that totals 890 sf. The Sherman location has five offices and a total of 705 sf.
Will there be adequate parking?
The base parking in Phase I is 333 spaces. There are 148 spaces in the building adjacent to the new building. An additional 516 spaces, planned as an alternate to Phase I, will be used to bring the parking to 997 spaces upon move-in. There are 575 spaces at Sherman Street, counting the property across the street.
How many seats will there be in the sanctuary?
Planning to use 19” chairs, the sanctuary will hold 1,335 people. There is an overflow area that will hold another 239 seats.
How many seats are there at Sherman Street?
There are 640 seats in the sanctuary at Sherman Street and 180 overflow seats.
What is the water treatment?
The architects have designed a water treatment pool with running water that will serve as the baptistery.
How are the acoustics?
One of the major efforts of the design was to ensure that the acoustics throughout the multipurpose room are top shelf. Every corner, angle and object has been designed for optimal sound quality.
Will I be able to see without obstructions?
The height of the platform enables more than 900 chairs to be placed on a flat floor in the multipurpose room. After that, to ensure quality sightlines, risers have been employed at the rear of the room.
How is the lighting?
A great deal of effort has been employed to provide optimal lighting that is efficient, cost-effective and functional.
What is the pod concept?
The pod concept is that younger children will be in self-contained areas that offer maximum security. These pods have their own check-in procedure and can only be accessed through the check-in station.
How many services will we have?
It is expected that we will hold two services per Sunday morning when we occupy the new facility.
Do we have the money to build this building?
We have all of the funds needed to build Phase I of the building.
What is the membership of NDCBF?
There are 4,610 names on the membership roll as of the end of 2010.
What is the weekly attendance of NDCBF?
The average weekly attendance for 2010 was 1,482. That is 29 people more than the average attendance in 2009.
What is the annual revenue of NDCBF?
NDCBF received $3,924,773 in tithes and offerings in 2010. The stewardship campaign (Arise and Build) contributed another $161,592. The church received $336,793 in other income for a total of $4,423,158.
What were the expenses of NDCBF for 2010?
The total expenses for 2010 was $4,001,281. That was made up of $794,453 for Ministry/Programs and $3,206,828 for Staffing and Administration.
Did NDCBF pay more than $3MM in salaries and benefits?
No, the Staffing/Administration category consists of the bulk of the expenses required to manage the facilities.
How did NDCBF perform versus the budget in 2010?
NDCBF saw $140,073 more revenue than planned for and the staff managed expenses to $277,226 less than projected. The combination of increased revenue and reduced costs accounted for a net income of $417,229 for 2010.
How does the performance against the budget for 2010 compare to that of 2009?
The 2010 revenue was up 6.7% over 2009; the 2010 expenses were up 3.3% over 2009. The net income difference was $148,644 more income in 2010.
If this building meets the needs of NDCBF, why were we considering the Hillcrest property?
When the option to purchase the Hillcrest property was presented to us it appeared to offer what we needed without the necessity of having to wait 14 months to occupy.
If we are keeping Sherman Street for a while, will it be used at all?
Besides housing the staff, the Sherman Street facility will be used for special events.
How much will our expenses increase when we open the facility at SH190?
All we can do is estimate at this point but we anticipate a significant increase in the cost of maintaining two locations, even with an estimated 40% reduction in utilities, etc. at the Sherman Street location.
