We celebrate when kids come to an understanding of who Jesus Christ is and decide to make Him their Lord and Savior! So our Children’s Pre-Baptism class is designed to help children understand the important aspects of being a Christian and serves as our preparation course for baptism.
This course will take a child through the basic Christian beliefs that NDCBF feels are important for children to know before they get baptized.
This 6-week course meets at 8:00AM on Sundays and addresses the following material:
|
|
Class 1 - What does it mean to be a Christian.
Key Points:
- By faith alone, through Christ alone…not by works (Eph. 2:8)
- Scripture supports that believe only (not belief AND baptism) is what makes a person a Christian
- Baptism is an act of obedience. This is based on Romans 10:9 – 11 and Luke 23:39 – 43
Class 2 - The Church
Key Points:
- The church is a group of people with the same beliefs (not a building).
- Based on Matt 16:13-18 and Acts 2:4
- The foundation of the church is the belief that Christ is the Son of God, a fact revealed to Peter by God.
Class 3 and 4 - Baptism and the Lord’s Supper (Communion)
Key Points:
- Acts 8:26-38 - The salvation and baptism of the Ethiopian Eunuch
- Matthew 26:26-30 – The Lord’s Supper and 1 Cor. 11:23-26 - Paul’s recap of the Lord’s Supper with the early church
- Practical concerns regarding Baptism (i.e., Baptism water temperature, process, Communion process, etc.)

In addition to the class time, the students are expected to complete a booklet at home called I’m a Christian Now. We ask parents to only pay $5.00 for either one of these $6.95 booklets.
